Speaking of Salisbury, why does he think he’s hot sh*t? What did he ever do as a backup QB to feel the need to compare himself to one of the greatest receivers in the 90’s, Michael Irvin?
You were a career spare, Salisbury. Don’t try to portray yourself as anything else when ESPN graces you with air time.
Here’s a solution for all you hockey loving Americans wanting an alternative to SportsCenter. Get a grey market Canadian dbs system and watch SportsCentre instead! That’s right, the Canadian version of SportsCenter with all the same graphics but more hockey and less mid-Major college basketball.
Salisbury thought it didn’t stink anymore for some reason after he left Patrick’s radio show to have a more vigorous schedule on television. Fascinating. As for watching, Eric, I’m in the same boat as you – I try and watch SC at night sometimes before bed, but if I really want to see what’s up, I watch the crawl on News, and listen to a couple stories on there. That’s about it.
Can we add that the broadband EXPLOSION in the last year or so has added to this, perhaps?
BRG: the idea crosses my mind every time Comcast jacks my basic digital cable rate closer and closer to the combined cost of two DBS subscriptions, one Canadian and one American.
Personally I could stand for TSN to carry more NCAA basketball. They might not show mid-majors but they don’t show majors on most nights either, at least not until March Madness. I doubt there are many people that care though.
I also prefer Sportsnet News with Mike Toth to Sportscentre.
Don’t mess with Sean Salisbury. He lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to the CFL’s Grey Cup title his rookie year in the CFL with legendary Chargers coach Mike Riley as his coach…. ummm… after reading that sentence again, feel free keep bad mouthing Salisbury.
The better alternative for Canadians has been TheScore, a almost all highlight channel that has Greg Sansone and Martine Gailaard as its hosts. It updates during the night and has regular segments with analysts. For Canadians anyways, it is a much better choice then Sports Center, or Sports Centre.
I still watch SC….in the morning, before work, when they’re limited to the old hour long format.
I find PTI and Around the Horn, both of which are scream-fests, to be pretty unwatchable. And even the Sunday version of Sports Reporters is pretty much ruined….the mere sound of Lupica’s shrieking voice makes me shudder.
Eric, you’re over 30, right? Hate to break it to you, but you’re out of ESPN’s demographic. You and me both. We’re in advertising limbo until we have enough time to play a lot of golf.
