Luckily, the NHL awards teams a point for losing in OT to make sure they actually try to win. It's like preschool graduation. No losers. Everyone gets away with their self-esteem intact. Settling ties with shootouts would make a lot more sense. But this is the NHL, where they don't convert to sense.
