On Sunday, Larry Brooks reported that the NHL offices in New York and Toronto, much like many team front offices around North America, would initiate some severe cutbacks in preparation for a potential lockout after the expiration of the CBA in September.
Yesterday, the memos were handed out, and Brooks has the details:
As we reported Sunday, the NHL yesterday informed its Manhattan- and Toronto-based staffs of its lockout layoff plans. The news was worse than anticipated. Call it the Tuesday Afternoon Massacre. Up to 70 percent of the league's personnel



On this morning’s “Mike & Mike” show on ESPN Radio, Mike Greenberg reported that someone from the NHL’s New York offices called in, and stated that everyone would be receiving some severance pay, though it still wasn’t a good situation. But this woman apparently really wanted to correct some of the things Brooks had stated.
