I Link, You Decide

Though it hardly matters now, I'm beginning to wonder whether or not Alexi Kovalev actually scored a goal in Thursday night's game against Team USA in St. Paul. I've watched this video clip from the CBC more than a few times, and it seems as if the puck hits both posts before bouncing out (something the CBC commentator would dispute).

Take a look for yourself.

Actually, the TV replays clearly show that the puck hit the roof inside the crossbar, breaking the plane of the goal line, and then bouncing out (overhead replay). The side angle replay shows Kovalev squeezing the puck past the inside post and again breaking the plane of the goal line before bouncing out.

That replay blatantly shows a goal. I don’t get why you even posted that…. must be bored I guess.

It’s not even close to being controversial…

I think Kovalev should return the gold … sorry, sorry …

  4. Lawrence says:

That’s a goal. The puck passes the goal line by about 6 inches.

You’re all bitter because Brett Hull doesn’t give an expletive about any of you!

  6. Nick says:

Clearly a goal. You can see the puck hit the roof of the net.

the problem with the overhead angle is that the crossbar looks like it’s 6 inches in front of the goal line. That angle is the worst of the three for me .The first angle seems to show a goal while the third looks inconclusive. I missed most of the coverage from Thursday-Monday. Did anyone on the ice actually argue at the time that it wasn’t a goal?
