The NHLPA Settles A Score

Last week, we told you about NHLPA SCORE, an online database maintained by the players association that allows agents to gain perfect market information on player salaries and pending contract offers, giving them a decided advantage in contract negotiations.

Now the Ottawa Sun is reporting that NHLPA head Bob Goodenow has tracked down the agent that gave the Minneapolis Star-Tribune access to NHLPA SCORE, and has de-certified him, making him ineligible to negotiate player contracts. Further, the union has also announced that any agent that represents a replacement player in any strike-breaking situation will also be de-certified.

Guess more happened at that meeting between the agents and the NHLPA than I first suspected. The brickbats are out my friends.

Thanks to the dogged Vodkafish for the links.

Wow! This is news to me. Could there possibly be some movement in this whole labor process soon?

So last week the NHLPA capitalizes on the Forbes estimates, I say again ESTIMATES, to complain about the NHL’s lack of financial transparency.

Now the NHLPA decertifies an agent that allowed the media to examine how the NHLPA operates a database to maximize each player signing.

Both sides negotiating this mess blow goats. The owners and players are guilty by association just having these fools as representatives.

Pardon my French, errr my goat comment.
