The only film I cared about, Murderball, didn't win.
That is all.
UPDATE: More thoughts from Chris Lynch.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Bill Simmons, who as an LA resident was practically required to watch, had this to say about John Stewart:
Jon Stewart did a solid hosting job, got off one great joke in the monologue (the Bjork/Cheney joke), nailed the 3 6 Mafia aftermath, did a pretty good job with the fake attack ads ... and I would be amazed if he's ever asked back.
Johnny Carson was the perfect host for the Oscars for years because he was one of them, even though he was a television, and not a movie star. He lived in Malibu for Christ's sake, and had to deal with these folks face to face all the time.
Hollywood needed Carson on their side as The Tonight Show was never more important to the motion picture industry than when he was host. His humor, while biting, wasn't as threatening as the humor uncorked uncorked by former Oscar hosts David Letterman, Chris Rock and Stewart.
In the three minutes I watched last night, it was clear that while Stewart was connecting comedically with me, he wasn't with most of the crowd. And as funny as America might have thought Stewart was (and I don't doubt followers of the Daily Show were dropping in the aisles), much of Hollywood didn't.
In the end, those are the people who matter most.
