Wow, what a way to start the playoffs. Sure, Sens-Bolts wasn't terribly exciting, but I could feel a whole lot of folks tightening up when Tampa Bay scored first out of the gate. Right now, we're stuck between OT periods in Detroit with the Oilers and the Wings tied at 2.
Already, that series is reminding me of a 1995 playoff series between the Wings and the Hawks, one where Detroit could never put away Chicago because Ed Belfour just wouldn't be beaten.
In Nashville, my, it was awfully loud as the Preds held off the Sharks, 4-3.
Everywhere I look, the game is moving quickly through the zone, there's no clutching and grabbing, the energy is there, and the play is physical. I'm really liking it so far.
More later, that is, if Detroit ever puts away Edmonton.
UPDATE: Maltby puts it away, Detroit wins 3-2.
On to Calgary!
