Heck of a time to resign, it being only a few weeks till the start of training camp. It's even more puzzling considering Keenan pulled off perhaps the biggest trade in Panthers history when he swapped Roberto Luongo for Todd Bertuzzi, Alex Auld and Bryan Allen. With that trade, the Southeast Division promises to be a difficult place to play for the next few years. Just take a close look at the Panthers roster, and you'll see what I mean.
Don't forget, the Panthers only finished 7 points out of a playoff spot season. I'd have to think this trade puts them over the top.
Funny enough, both Can't Stop The Bleeding and Puck Update think Iron Mike may be headed to Long Island. Now that would be a story to wake up Labor Day Weekend.
