I would consider the long-term outlook better at this point for the big man if he had suffered the obvious, treatable sort of trauma he inflicted on Steve Moore. Feel free to savour the irony; it's a lulu.
I think it's time to wonder out loud whether or not the Panthers knew this was coming. If so, the knowledge that they had paid for damaged goods with the best goaltender on the planet might have led directly to Mike Keenan's abrupt exit before the start of the regular season.
