Rico Fata stayed for a brief time in Washington and is now moving to Germany. Earlier this year, the Capitals acquired Fata off waivers from the Atlanta Thrashers. On November 7, tsn.ca reported that Fata was recalled from the minor leauge team, the Hershey Bears, to be put on waivers the next day. Thehockeynews.com revealed the Center Wingman had signed with Adler Mannheim in the Deutsche Liga in Germany on November 8 2006. Similar to his previous tenures in Atlanta and Pittsburgh this year, the Captials decided to put Fata on waviers. Although Rico is incredibly fast, he
Lacks hockey sense, which prevents him from making it big in the NHL. Needs to learn how to play at different speeds. Doesn't have enough confidence in his offensive ability.
The seven year veteran has been unproductive on the Caps, scoring one goal and one assist for two points, which hardly attracts the attention of fans or coaches.
