Today’s Bad Idea For The Caps

Kevin Greenstein of the New York Sun has an idea for Washington Capitals GM, George McPhee:

It's a simple move that could pay huge dividends. The Caps should investigate acquiring Flyers forward Geoff Sanderson to reunite him with former Hartford Whalers linemate Andrew Cassels.

Earth to Kevin: Cassels was released by the Caps last January. If you have some other ideas on acquiring a second line center and another defenseman, please feel free to share them with us.

Wow- it’s pretty scary to hear that coming from a GM… you would hope he’d just be joking around when you hear something like that. The guy doesn’t even know the team?

I still think it would be quite a move for Washingon to go out and try tn nab Jovanoski or Conroy, as you mentioned a little over a month ago… the problem is who you’d give up (especially for Ed) to get them. Jovanovski is Phoenix’s big money player, and the Coyotes need the beef at defense (i think their two highest paid players are defensemen). Washington may need to sacrifice an arm and a leg— but if it’s a type of move they have to make to contend, don’t you think they’ll try?
