Now that Don Imus has been cashiered by CBS, here's one last thought to chew on, one that I discussed with Joe Ovies of 850/620 AM in North Carolina while we were pre-recording an interview about the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night.
Here's what Joe told me. Now that Imus has been sent his walking papers, around 70 radio affiliates around the country are going to be looking for replacement programming. According to Joe, about 15-20 of those stations are sports talk, and are naturally going to be looking for something complementary as a replacement.
Something like ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning.
Just something to think about. I'm done here.
