Some news items hit really high on the unintentional comedy scale, like this item from Long Island's Newsday:
Two teenagers made an impassioned plea to have the adults of Long Beach clean up their act and ban the drunken rowdiness associated with Irish Day every October.Billy Papetti, 18, and Matthew Demerest, 17, told members of the City Council Tuesday night that the free flow of booze on Irish Day gave youngsters the impression it was OK to drink.
"There are many people, both young and old, against Irish Day because of the fact it is no longer celebrated as a holiday, but an excuse to get drunk," Demerest told the council members during its open microphone session at the first meeting of the month.
You know, because St. Patrick's Day is such a solemn celebration of Irish heritage.
