Bayhawks beat Pride in Overtime to Win Third Straight

After the opening shot made by DC Mayor, Adrian Fenty, the Washington Bayhawks scored two quick goals to take an early lead against the New Jersey Pride . The Pride came back and held Bayhawks scoreless for almost 10 minutes while netting 5 goals of their own. The first two Pride goals were scored by Scott Urick, making him only the third player to reach 200 career goals.

However, the first half ended with the Bayhawks leading 9 to 6 due in large part to the 7 saves made by goalie Chris Garrity.

The Pride defense came on strong in the third and held the Bayhawks to 1 goal.

The Pride attack again scored 5 goals of their own before the Bayhawk attack came alive and scored 6 unanswered goals to tie the game with 2 minutes left.

Bayhawks won the opening overtime faceoff but were unable to capitalize immediately. Possession changed several times in overtime before the Bayhawks were finally able to capitalize on a goal by Matt Ward.

The Bayhawks moved the ball well around the perimeter and made some nice penetration through the Pride
