NHL Winter Classic Is Upon Us

After months of buildup the time has come for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres to face off at Ralph Wilson stadium in Buffalo. Said NHL facility operations manager Dan Craig, "The rink itself looks fairly well ready to go...we're ready to go, let's drop the puck and play hockey."

This will be a regular season game, and it will count towards the standings. Says Pens coach Michel Therrien, "We're privileged to be part of this...But in the meantime we've got to understand this is a regular-season game, and I'm sure Lindy Ruff (is saying) the same thing. He wants to have those two points and we want to have those two points." Buffalo sits two points behind Pittsburgh, and those same two points separates Buffalo from the 8th seed in the East. The NHL did a great job in choosing two exciting teams to battle out in the frigid outdoors.
