Decisive Decisions

If DC United wants to win their tie tonight with Pachuca they are going to need to make more decisive decisions in the offensive third. DC united must win tonight if they want to advance in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. I am beginning to believe Pachuca stands for players who fall down hurt after every challenge. The hometown boys are keeping pretty good possession in the first half, but hesitation on runs and shooting has seen the score sheet remain 0-0. To pull the game out in the second half Gallardo is going to have to take control of the midfield and get his wings running. I hope Soehn has told Emilio to stop missing sitters and remind him he is a goal scorer. The good news for DC is that Pachuca scored both of theirs in the first leg in the second have.

Final thoughts after the final whistle.

Two goals to late

Liverpool scored 3 goals in 6 minutes. DC United tried but did not. Despite DC's 90 minutes of full speed effort, Pachuca will be going to the finals. With a 2-0 aggregate lead Pachuca was content to sit back and let DC United come at them. Come at them the Black and Red did but they could not solve the puzzle of the visitors back line. As DC United starting to press with desperate numbers Pachuca put in what turned out to be the series winner. Some games are not fair, sometimes there are strange bounces and the unexpected does happen; however in these pair of semi-final games the better team did win. If games like this continue to be the norm the new "Americas Champions League" will be a success. The effort and skill applied by visiting team shows the MLS something they can be proud of. They are gaining international respect.
