Caps Give Thanks They Can Still Ice a Team

After last night's 5-3 win over Atlanta the Caps have lost yet another player, as Tom Poti missed the end of the game with what is being described as a groin muscle pull. Chris Clark and Jeff Schultz have been put on the long-term IR. Feds, Green, Semin, and Erskine are all probably out until next week. Boyd Gordon didn't practice, but may be in tomorrow night's lineup against Montreal. It feels like a different team with all the new faces. Tyler Sloan leads a group of call-ups that now includes Sami Lepisto, Chris Bourque, Karl Alzner, and Graham Mink. And if Poti is out tomorrow night, that drops the Caps down to 5 defensemen, with Brooks Laich possibly dropping back to the blueline. And yet after all of the injury problems the Caps still sit in first place in the Southeast with 27 points, which would still be good for 5th in the East.

And it looks like Theodore will get the start in net against his old team. In his last game against the Canadians he gave up 8 goals. Hopefully he does better this time around.
