#10 Caps Corner

In this episode (MP3), Joe and I talk about the brawl with Atlanta, the six-game losing streak and what might be done to right thing in Washington.

I'm sure some of you have noticed that it's been more than two weeks since the last show. We actually had already recorded episode #10 about two weeks back, but somehow the file was corrupted between Rhode Island and Reston. Now that we're past the Thanksgiving Holiday, we should be back on more or less a regular schedule. Look for edition #11 next Monday or Tuesday.

#9 Caps Corner

In this episode (MP3), we talk over the three game span with the Thrashers, Flyers and Senators. Please note we recorded this last night before the Caps took the ice against the Hurricanes in Carolina, and I didn't know that Brent Johnson was going to get the start.

Again, all you have to do is subscribe to my XML feed (copy the address into your favorite podcast aggregator), and you'll get the file automatically.

#5 Caps Corner

In this episode (MP3), Joe and I talk over the first two games of the season, the team's injury situation and the leadership qualities of Olie Kolzig. And happy 25th birthday to Joe, who may not reach 26 alive if he keeps cracking wise about my age ... ;-)

#4 Caps Corner

In our latest edition of Caps Corner (MP3), Joe and I take a last look at the roster before the puck drops on the Caps regular season opener on Thursday night.

Here's a news flash for all local puck bunnies: Joe says that if Rico Fata sticks with the big club he's going to get awfully popular.

#1 Caps Corner

That's right, every week Joe and I will do an additional show just looking at the hometown team, the Washington Capitals. In our inaugural episode, we take a quick look at the team's prospects going into the 2006-07 season. Our first episode comes in at 12:38.

But wait, there's more ...

The Bleacherguy Radio Call In Line

As many of you recall, I've been podcasting with my pal Rob Visconti over at www.bleacherguy.com for about a year now. As it turns out, Rob has added a new wrinkle to our show:

Speaking of Bleacher Guy Radio, Eric and I tried twice to record a new show last weekend, but we experienced some technical difficulties. Look for a new show this weekend. And by the way, we now have a dedicated voice mailbox for the show, so if you'd like to leave a comment, give us a ring at (641) 985-5999, ext. 15121, and we'll put you on the podcast.

Come on, you know you want to call. The potential for mischief is too great not to. In fact, I'm sure Islanders owner Charles Wang has called already.

Off Wing On Sportscolumn Blog Podcast

Vin Diec and the boys had me on to talk NHL Playoffs. Unfortunately, right in the midst of the recording, the Devils scored three goals in the 3rd period of their game with Montreal to win 4-3 and take the Atlantic Division title. Which, of course, rendered much of what I had to say a bit out of date. Ah, the perils of podcasting. Click here for the show.

Podcasting Update

It's been a couple of weeks since Joe Tasca and I have recorded a new Off Wing podcast, and that's because our schedules just haven't been meshing. That said, Joe and I have been exchanging messages, and we ought to have edition #16 posted sometime later this week.

Over at Bleacher Guy Radio, Rob Visconti and I have increased the frequency of our shows to two a week, while cutting the length of the podcast to 30 minutes. That allows us to be more topical, and it means that Rob has an easier time of editing things together. Our next episode should be posted sometime tomorrow.

One last technical note: When I started riding shotgun on Bleacher Guy with Rob, I began including a direct link to those podcasts inside of individual posts here at Off Wing so they'd be included in my XML feed. That solution proved to be a bit confusing, as it meant folks who subscribed to both my feed and Rob's would get the show twice. I've since suspended that practice, though I'll be including the individual shows in an archive in the Off Wing sidebar.

Bleacherguy Radio #32

This week we wrap up the NFL season with a tip of our caps to the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. We take a look back at all of the game action from Super Bowl XL in Detroit, and hand out well-deserved cheers and jeers to those who earned them Sunday night. And, no--the officiating crew does not escape unscathed.

The show clocks in at 56 minutes, 30 seconds.

Bleacher Guy Radio #31

This week we get set for Super Bowl XL with a preview of Sunday's championship matchup between Seattle and Pittsburgh, a look at key players and coaches on both sides of the ball and a little editorial commentary on the media's reaction to traveling to Detroit for the big game.

The show isn't excusively pigskin, though--we also have some more thoughts on Alex Ovechkin's incredible rookie season, the foibles of the NHL marketing division and the retirement of Mario Lemieux. Finally, we pay homage to the 37-5 Detroit Pistons and speculate as to whether anyone can possibly derail Flip Saunders' team on its way to an NBA championship. And, of course, we've found yet another very deserving Jackass of the Week.

POSTSCRIPT: One note about the Bleacher Guy podcast: Because I'm using an MT plug-in that automatically embeds media files into my RSS feed, I've stopped providing a direct link to the MP3 file of the Bleacher Guy shows. If you'd like to download the show directly to your desktop, go to the show archive in the left hand margin. Otherwise, please use one of the other options described in this post. Thanks.
